The Artek Aalto Stool 60 Birch – Zebra Brown / Off White combines one of Alvar Aalto’s most famous designs with the distinctive, graphic look of the iconic Zebra fabric. A timeless Finnish design object that, thanks to its simplicity, fits effortlessly into both modern and classic interiors.
Alvar Aalto designed the Stool 60 in 1933 based on the idea that good design should be simple, functional, and usable for various purposes. The construction consists of just a few elements: a round seat and three characteristic curved L-shaped legs made of birch wood. This innovative technique grew into an important part of Aalto’s design language and the identity of Artek.
In this version, the birch wood remains natural and light in color. The warm appearance of the wood forms a beautiful contrast with the upholstered seat in Zebra Brown / Off White. The graphic zebra pattern gives the minimalist Stool 60 a playful and characterful accent without losing its understated Scandinavian look. The strength of Stool 60 also lies in its versatility. Use it as a stool, extra seat, side table, nightstand, or as a place for books, plants, and design objects. When multiple units are not in use, they can be easily stacked – up to a maximum of 10 pieces.
Every Stool 60 is manufactured in Finland. The natural characteristics and subtle variations in the birch wood ensure that every stool has its own character and can develop a beautiful patina over the years through use.
An authentic design icon from 1933 that proves that simplicity never goes out of style.
