Description

Artek 153B Bench Marimekko Seireeni.

"Two Finnish icons in one design!".

The Aalto Sofa 153B Seireeni is the result of a special collaboration between Artek and Marimekko. For Artek's 90th anniversary (2025), Alvar Aalto's timeless wooden sofa is paired with Maija Isola's legendary Seireeni pattern – a meeting of two icons from Finnish design history.

The design combines the functional simplicity of Aalto's furniture classic with the expressive, organic lines of Marimekko's textile art. The result is a limited anniversary edition that is not only practical as a sofa or occasional piece, but also a unique collector's item for design enthusiasts.

Exclusively available in 2025 and for a limited time only – a rare opportunity to bring a piece of Finnish design history into your home.

About the designer:

Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) is probably the most famous Finnish architect and designer in the world. In 1921, Alvar Aalto received a degree in Architecture from the Helsinki Institute of Technology and began his career as an architect. One of the most important commissions he received was the planning of the tuberculosis sanatorium in Paimio, Finland. This project also marked the beginning of Aalto's career as a furniture designer—in fact, it was the first building planned by Aalto that was completely furnished with furniture designed by him, including the lighting. Other important projects completed by Alvar Aalto include the Viipuri Municipal Library, Villa Mairea, La Maison Carré, and the Finnish pavilions for the 1937 Paris and 1939 New York World's Fairs.
