The Tynell 9602 floor lamp by Gubi was designed by Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell, who created this delicate masterpiece in 1935 for the Hotel Aulanko in Hämeenlinna.
Finnish lighting designer Paavo Tynell designed the 9602 floor lamp for the Hotel Aulanko in Hämeenlinna, Finland in 1935. The lamp features a wide shade resembling a traditional Chinese hat, and a slender rattan-covered stem, contrasted with shiny brass in the base and on top of the lampshade. The 9602 lamp is a beautiful example of Tynell’s ability to transform lighting into art and seamlessly combine different materials. This floor lamp is part of the Paavo Tynell collection that was relaunched in 2018 by Danish design brand Gubi.
Originally produced by Finnish company Oy Taito Ab, the lamp is now part of the Paavo Tynell collection by Danish design brand GUBI. The linen fabric of the lampshade was produced in collaboration with French textile brand Garro Éditions. The elegant look features Henry Moore's delicate illustrations of circus horses drawn in black lines, waiting to take the stage.
