The 020 Koppa Crate Large by Vaarnii, designed by Philippe Malouin, transforms everyday storage into a characterful design object. The robust crate is crafted entirely from solid Finnish pine and combines Vaarnii’s distinctive approach to materials with a simple, functional form.
Koppa is designed as a versatile storage solution that comes into its own in various places around the home. With dimensions of 45 x 38 x 36 cm, the Large version offers ample space for items such as vinyl records, books, and magazines, as well as toys, tools, or other items you like to keep within easy reach.
An integrated handle makes it easy to move the crate. Furthermore, multiple Koppa Crates can be neatly stacked on top of one another, allowing you to create a larger and cohesive storage system made of solid pine. Use a single unit as a standalone storage or combine several for a playful and functional arrangement.
The use of Finnish pine is characteristic of Vaarnii. Instead of hiding signs of wear, they are allowed to become part of the furniture. Pine is relatively soft and will develop dents, scratches, and other signs of use over time. The color also changes: the initially light wood gradually takes on a warmer, honey-like tint over the years.
In this way, the Koppa becomes increasingly personal and full of character – a practical object that visibly lives in harmony with its surroundings and owner.

Vaarnii consciously chooses the natural characteristics of Finnish pine. Because pine is a relatively soft wood, small scratches and dents will appear over time. These are not seen as damage that should be hidden, but as characterful signs of use.
The color of the wood also changes naturally. Over several years, the light pine develops an increasingly warm, honey-colored patina, giving every Koppa a unique appearance.
Maintenance:
Remove dust with a soft microfiber cloth. Use only water to clean the wood and avoid solvents and harsh cleaning products.
