The 019 Syy Chopping Board by Vaarnii is a distinct ode to the natural beauty of Finnish pine. This generous cutting board is crafted from thick solid pine and allows the wood's striking grain, knots, and color variations to come fully into their own.

The name Syy means wood grain in Finnish and refers directly to the design's key visual element. The pine's whimsical, almost psychedelic pattern runs across the entire surface, making every cutting board unique. Instead of refining or concealing the wood's natural character, with Syy it becomes the focal point of the design.

With an impressive thickness of 5 cm, the Syy has a robust and almost sculptural appearance. Pine is a relatively soft wood. Therefore, daily use will inevitably result in cut marks, scratches, and small dents. At Vaarnii, these changes are consciously embraced: they show how the object is used and give the board increasingly more character. The color also changes naturally. The initially pale pine will gradually mature into a warm honey color under the influence of time and light.

Maintenance:

Use a soft microfiber cloth to wipe down the board. Avoid solvents and harsh cleaning agents; only water is recommended for cleaning the wood.
