Vitra Wooden Doll 3.

The Wooden Dolls by Vitra are a design by Alexander Girard from 1953. He designed and manufactured them for his own home in Santa Fe, taking inspiration from folk art.

Inspired by Girard's passion for South American, Asian and European folk art, the adorable wooden dolls can be used as both decorative items and toys.

The designer,

Alexander Girard (1907-1993) was an American designer and architect who worked in interior, furniture, textile and industrial design, collaborating with Herman Miller from 1952 to 1975. Among his colleagues George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, Girard has been considered one of the pioneers of American design of the mid-twentieth century. His best-known designs include the restaurant La Fonda del Sol in New York and the Girard Foundation in San Diego, which houses Girard's extensive folk art collection.
