Illu presents an unconventional mirror with a playful expression and an intriguing frame that illuminates the mirror itself, adding character and finesse to the design. The winding frame is designed with a specific thickness to make room for the integrated lighting, ensuring the right ambiance. When lit, the frame becomes an illumination, presenting a distinct character that enchantingly transforms the mirror.

Inspired by the beautiful glow emitted by traditional dressing room mirrors with fitted light bulbs, Illu is a modern, versatile interpretation that will fit seamlessly into any hallway, vanity space, bedroom or as a sculptural object in the living room, enhancing the space with its captivating presence.

About the designer:

Simon Legald studies design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and will graduate in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small and large-scale products.

“Honesty is what makes a product understandable, and is what describes the functionality of the products. If you understand the product, it needs no explanation. The essence of my design is that it is bought and used. Therefore, it must satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs. For me, simplicity describes the true identity of objects and makes them reliable.

In my designs I try not to add unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by emphasizing the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest look.”
