The Gubi floor lamp Model 597 is a design by Gianfranco Frattini from 1961, and this is a true masterpiece, with this lamp his career as a renowned lighting designer began.

Gianfranco Frattini's distinctive and playful approach is perfectly reflected in the design of the gubi model 597 floor lamp. This floor lamp features nylon fringes inspired by high fashion and fringed curtains found in bars and supermarkets throughout Italy and beyond in the 1950s.

The floor lamp is equipped with grazing light lamps that emit a soft, atmospheric glow, which is further spread by the reflective nylon, creating an atmosphere of indirect light.

About the designer:

Gianfranco Frattini was born in Padua in 1926 and graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1953, where he continued to work until his death. His professional activity was mainly concerned with interior and industrial design. He diligently participated in shows and exhibitions and his design projects won a large number of awards. In 1956, Frattini was one of the founders of the ADI, Association for Industrial Design, for which he carried out many different activities.
