Erik Rasmussen’s graphic and sculptural design sensibility shaped both furniture and visual identity—most notably Paustian’s iconic logo, which won the 1993 Industrial Graphics Award. About the designer Erik Rasmussen:

Architect Erik Rasmussen (1930–1984) designed the sofa for Paustian in 1969 while working as a graphic designer at the company. Paustian had requested a modular, sculptural, and minimalist piece where form and textile could truly take center stage.

Erik Rasmussen responded with the sofa’s distinctive rounded seat and backrest. Today, his design is celebrated for its sculptural relationship to space, leaving a lasting impact on modern Scandinavian design. His original modular sofa now lives on as Paradigm, a future-proof system that continues his visionary legacy while aligning with Montana Furniture’s commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design.
