The Vitra stools A, B and C are a charming addition to many lounge chairs and next to the sofa.

Vitra is now producing the stools in walnut from Europe and also adding a new , light coloured version in chestnut to compliment the dark version. At the same time, the surface finish was also changed from varnish to hard wax oil, replacing the former glossy shine with a matt appearance and giving the stools a completely new, soft look.

Dimensions are: 31D x 38H cm. material: solid chestnut, natural matt finish.

About the designers:

In 1925 Charles Eames began to study architecture, which he interrupted after two years of boredom. Four years later he made a trip to Europe where he discovered with enthusiasm the innovative work of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. Upon his return to the United States, he opened his own architectural practice and collaborated several times with the Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen. It was with Eliel's son, Eero Saarinen, that he won his first design prize, awarded by the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the conclusion of an organic design competition.

In 1938, under the impulse of Eliel Saarinen, Charles Eames resumed his studies in architecture at the Academy of the Arts in Cranbrook, where he soon became a professor of industrial design. There he met Ray Kaiser, a painting student, who in 1941 would become his assistant and then his wife.
