This rug called Unikko is decorated with the iconic Marimekko pattern by Maija Isola. The Unikko pattern was designed in 1964.
However, Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, announced that no floral motifs would be designed at Marimekko.
But Maija Isola wasn't having it and in protest she designed a whole collection of striking floral patterns – today Unikko is one of Marimekko's most beloved patterns and is recognized all over the world.
This Marimekko carpet was made in collaboration with the high-quality Dutch carpet maker Brink & Campman. This Marimekko carpet is hand-tufted from New Zealand wool with a striking, bright orange color palette. Whether it is placed in your bedroom or living room, the Unikko carpet promises to provide your home with warmth, it is like a poppy field in the middle of your home!
