Piet Hein Eek is known worldwide for his radical commitment to craftsmanship, honest use of materials, and unpolished beauty. When he graduated from the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven in 1990, he broke all conventions with his iconic Classic Cabinet made of reclaimed wood. In an era focused entirely on perfection and mass production, he opted for the opposite: materials with a history, visible traces of use, and designs that emphasize the human touch.

In his spacious workshop in Eindhoven, every product is still handcrafted. Tables, cabinets, lamps, vases, and even wood-burning stoves are developed with respect for the material, an eye for detail, and a deep-rooted love of craftsmanship. His work is recognizable by its honesty: robust, functional, and always imbued with character.

Since 2024, Piet Hein Eek has collaborated with VanMokum, a leading Amsterdam-based manufacturer and agent for design brands. Thanks to this collaboration, selected lamp designs are now mass-produced—maintaining the same quality and aesthetics, but with a more accessible price.
