Kay Bojesen is known worldwide for his distinctive wooden figures, meticulously carved from the finest woods and finished with an unparalleled attention to detail. What began as an experiment with shapes and materials has grown into an iconic design universe that combines craftsmanship, humor, and timeless simplicity.
Kay Bojesen (1886–1958) began his career as an apprentice to Georg Jensen and trained as a silversmith in 1910. Only years later, after experiences in Germany and France, did he discover his true passion: wood. In the 1930s, he began creating a series of wooden figures with soft lines, friendly faces, and an almost human character. These designs made him one of the great pioneers of Danish design.
His wooden animals—from the iconic monkey to soldiers, elephants, and songbirds—are beloved classics today, connecting generations. They are still crafted with the same dedication, precision, and love of materials that Bojesen himself envisioned.
Kay Bojesen Denmark continues to honor this heritage and produces each figurine according to the highest craftsmanship standards. The result: design objects that are not only decorative but also evoke emotions, tell stories, and bring a smile to any room.
