Antony Jean Prouvé, 1950.
This magnificent miniature pays homage to the visionary architect and designer Jean Prouvé, a pioneer of modern design and innovative construction. Prouvé combined his knowledge of metalworking with influences from the aircraft and automotive industries to create lightweight, progressive designs – both in architecture and in his furniture designs.
In collaboration with renowned designer Charlotte Perriand, he developed a series of furniture for a student residence in Antony, near Paris, in 1955. The chair in this Miniatures Collection is part of this iconic series, and is based on an earlier design Prouvé made for the University of Strasbourg in 1950.
