Design: Jean Prouvé (1950s)
The Antony lounge chair is an impressive design by legendary French designer Jean Prouvé, combining sculptural clarity and functional aesthetics. Originally designed in the 1950s for the Cité Universitaire student residence in Antony, near Paris, this chair has become one of Prouvé’s most iconic pieces of furniture.
With its striking, industrial-style powder-coated steel frame and curved pine veneer seat, Antony is a perfect interplay of form and function. Crafted from European pine, the seat reveals the natural grain of the wood, giving each chair a unique organic character. The low, reclining profile and flowing lines exude a modernist spirit.
As the first chair in the Vitra Design Museum collection, Antony is a true design icon. This special edition comes in pine/red, is also individually numbered and only available until the end of 2025 – a rare opportunity to bring a collectible piece of design history into your home.
