NORMANN COPENHAGEN JAM BOOKCASE 8.

The bookcase called Jam by Normann Copenhagen consists of only three elements: shelves, uprights and - perhaps the most surprising - wedges. It was these rather inconspicuous objects that formed the starting point for the design of the Jam bookcase.

The German design trio behind the bookcase, Rudolph Schelling Webermann, was fascinated by the ability of a wedge (key) to hold even a heavy door, just because of the slanted shape and friction. That is why the Jam bookcase is held together with wedges.
