About the designer
Carlo De Carli was a central figure in Italian design in the mid-20th century. He played a key role in the Milan Triennale and the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano, where he passionately advocated local furniture production as a cornerstone of traditional Italian craftsmanship.
One of the most important Italian furniture manufacturers of the time, Vittorio Bonacina, shared De Carli's vision of a unified approach to the Italian furniture industry and commissioned him to design several pieces of furniture for his company. The Poltrona Tria in rattan was born from this collaboration – one of De Carli’s last furniture designs before devoting himself entirely to research and teaching.
