Vitra Metal Wall Relief Arrow.
Design by Alexander Girard for the Swiss company Vitra.
Vitra has been making eye-catching and functional furniture and accessories for home and work since their existence. In addition to working with contemporary designers, the label also re-releases style classics from the 20th century. Alexander Girard, a colleague of Charles and Ray Eames, was probably best known for his textile and graphic design, many of which have a whimsical quality. His work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The Metal Wall Relief arrow was originally designed by Alexander Girard for The Compound Restaurant and the designer's home in Santa Fe. The Swiss company Vitra consulted the Girard family for permission to select this iconic design for a range of wall decorations. Perfect for various textile applications, the Metal Wall Relief arrow will be an eye-catcher on a wall in any room.
The arrow first appeared in Girard's work in 1965 and has been used frequently throughout his career. Together with the Girard family, Vitra released a selection of motifs, including the Metal Wall Relief arrow. This charming piece of wall art is made entirely of powder coated sheet steel.
It measures 24 cm. high, is 40 cm. wide and 4.2 cm. deep. The item comes with the necessary parts for wall mounting.
