VITRA SILHOUETTE BULL DECORATION

Vitra Silhouette Bull.

In 1965 Alexander Girard was commissioned to design the New York restaurant La Reserve and he created a series of charming metal figures that seem to dance: called silhouettes. They had to be placed between the dining tables, adding a cheerful touch to the atmosphere while serving as attractive partitions between guests.

Unfortunately, the restaurant La Reserve never came into existence, but Alexander Girard's plans and drawings have been preserved and are part of the Alexander Girard collection of the Vitra Design Museum.

Together with the Girard family, Vitra studied all the ideas developed for La Reserve and decided to release the silhouettes. - The first two were the "Bull" and "Mermaid".
