Santa & Cole Cestita table lamp
Design: Miguel Milá
The Cestita table lamp was designed in 1964 by the designer Miguel Milá.
The Cestita by Santa & Cole has become an iconic table lamp, the Cestita consists of a round opal glass shade and a frame of Sumatran pine wood formed with traditional steam techniques. The light creates a pleasant atmosphere and the wooden handle makes moving the lamp easy. The Cestita, reminiscent of Japanese lanterns, catches the eye with its charming design.
The Cestita Table Lamp is 36 cm high and has a diameter of 22 cm. Due to its simplicity, the lamp fits in many places in the house. The designer lamp is just as beautiful in the living room or bedroom as in a hotel lobby or at the office.
The fitting is an E27 recommended light source 6W Led (this is not included).
Miguel Milá (born 1931) is one of the pioneers of modern Spanish design. He started his career in the 1950s when industrial design just arrived in Spain. Milá's work has many references to traditional techniques and old craftsmanship, but his designs are also characterized by a passion for new techniques and materials.
In addition to being an independent designer, Milá was also one of the founders of the Spanish design agency Tramo. His most famous pieces are the simplistic TMC and TMM lamps and the atmospheric Cesta and Cestita lamps, all designed around the 60s and still selling very well. In 1987 Milá received the Spanish Premio Nacional de Diseño Prize and in 2008 he received the Compasso d'Oro Prize.
