Between 1948 and 1960, George Nelson's office designed more than 150 clocks for American clock manufacturer Howard Miller. The collection consists of wall clocks and table clocks characterized by imaginative shapes, modern spirit and the absence of numbers. Nelson's mission was to bring more modern design to ordinary American homes, and he succeeded brilliantly - today, the clocks are treasured as international design classics and masterpieces of mid-century American design.

About the designer:

George Nelson (1908-1986) was an American architect and designer considered one of the greatest American designers of the mid-twentieth century. Nelson studied at Yale University and in Rome, where he was introduced to European architecture and design. After returning to the United States, Nelson began working at Herman Miller, where he soon assumed the position of Design Director.
