The chair is the core piece of the HK001 collection by the Finnish designer Harri Koskinen for Artek. Lento means as much as “the flight” on Finnish, but it can also be translated by “weightless, cool” from the Italian language. Completely according to the name, Lento embodies a simple weightlessness and it is a symbol of the timelessness of Scandinavian design. The Lento chair does moreover shine because of its ability to be stacked, since even the cushioned edition is stackable.
The aim of the Lento-project was to create furniture that was weightless and affordable. The stackable Lento chair was followed by a table and a cushioned edition of the chair. A lounge chair and a bistro table are currently the newest objects of the Lento collection.
The feet of the Lento chair by Artek are made out of form-pressed birch-veneer (bright lacquered, white-or black lacquered). The seat is made out of form-pressed birch plywood (bright lacquered, white or black lacquered).
The Lento chair is also available in a cushioned edition (fabrics or leather).
