The leather seat and backrest are vertically separated by fine inner stitching for optimum comfort and a beautifully refined finish.
Vipp is celebrating the opening of their new Manhattan premises, 'Vipp Studio NYC', with a capsule collection consisting of a remake of Vipp's Swivel Chair in dark green, inspired by the Studio's interior.
Crossing the Atlantic from Copenhagen to New York, Sofie Christensen Egelund, the 3rd generation Vipp owner, brought with her a desk made by her grandfather that stood in her childhood home. Today, the desk, Studio Green bin, and swivel chair create the studio's home-office environment overlooking the SOHO skyline.
“I remember my grandfather making Vipp trays in dark green. We made one for the Vipp Studio NYC and paired it with an office chair upholstered in dark green leather. We liked the dark green color and decided to make a small collection"
The chair is made of powdered aluminum. The soft seat rests elegantly on a leg that branches into a four-legged base on floor glides, allowing the seat to rotate 360°. The slim armrests run straight into the discreet, padded backrest, giving the chair an almost airy appearance despite its solid components.

The Vipp success story begins on a spring Sunday in 1931 when 17-year-old Holger Nielsen wins a car in a raffle at the local football stadium. Holger likes cars, but doesn't have a driver's license, so he decides to sell the car and invest in a metal lathe. This marks the beginning of Holger's metal factory, where a few years later he creates a product that will become famous all over the world: namely the iconic Vipp pedal bin.
“Good design never goes out of style,” said Holger. Time proved him right; the Vipp trash can has only marginally improved since its birth in 1939. Today, the trash can is internationally recognized as a design classic, and in November 2009 it was even included in the architecture and design collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Holger and his wife, Marie's youngest daughter, Jette Egelund, decide to take over the company. Until now, the trash can has only been sold to the professional market, but Jette is convinced that it can also be sold to design enthusiasts all over the world. Jette visits the best furniture and design stores in Scandinavia. After much time and determination, The Conran Shop finally orders the Vipp pedal bucket for their London and Paris stores.
Today, Vipp is a third-generation family business. Jette is now assisted by her two children, Sofie and Kasper, who, together with a dedicated team of employees and with a growing range of products, continue to add to the special Vipp story. The original waste bin is available in five sizes and is accompanied by new bathroom and kitchen products.
The new products are manufactured using Vipp's signature materials: steel and rubber, continuing the more than 70-year tradition of Vipp and enhancing it through excellent craftsmanship and durability.
